    Purpose Statement

    Welcome to the Concord Library where our goal is to have our students become life long readers and effective users and producers of ideas and information.

    Checking Out

    We have many new books to enjoy in our library. All students will have the opportunity to check out books on a regular basis. Families are welcome too!!

    • Kindergarteners will begin checking out in January.
    • First Graders may check out one book each week.
    • Second-Fourth Graders may check out two books weekly.
    • Fifth Graders may check out three books each week.

    But remember, you must return your books before you check out new ones!!

    Global Reading Challenge

    It's that wonderful time again! Our 4th and 5th graders are busy reading 10 wonderful books selected by Seattle Public Library. We have made 10 teams of 7 students (two from each 4/5 class)  and they are practicing "Quiz Bowl" style questions and strategies to prepare for our Upcoming In School Challenge! This is the first round of competition. It will take place at Concord on Thursday, Feb. 15! Everyone is welcome!

    To learn more about the program, click on the Seattle Public Library Global Reading Challenge.

    We are fortunate in having one of the Global Reading Challenge authors, Kim Baker, author of Pickle., coming to Concord on January 19th to speak to our 4th and 5th graders!!

    Volunteer Opportunities

    We are always looking for people to come help keep our library shelves neat and full!! Your help is always welcome. Come on up and learn how many different ways to help;

    • reshelve books
